THE difficulty in securing assembling plants is hampering the efforts of Dr Apostle Kwadwo Safo to go into commercial production of his technological inventions, particularly vehicles a technical officer at the Engineering Department of Great Kosa Company, Alfred Akutteh has said.
Speaking to the Times at the on going 14th International Trade Fair in Accra Mr Akutteh, said Apostle Safo had made several unsuccessful moves to secure car manufacturing assembling plants from China and India to go into mass production of his vehicles.
According to Mr Akutteh, the fear of the manufacturers of the car assembling plants was that, Apostle Safo will destroy their market if he should go into mass production of hisvehicles.
He therefore appealed to the government to intervene to help Apostle Safo to secure assembling plants to commercialize his vehicle inventions.
“The GREAT KOSA Company has received many orders from people within and outside the country to supply them with cars but we cannot meet these orders,” the technical officer stated.
Mr Akutteh noted that, not only would the plant create employment but also make cars affordable to many people.
Daniel Amankwa who also exhibits Apostle Safo’s electronics products including television amplifiers and tape recorders, also told the Times that the Electronic Department of the Great Kosa Company had been receiving orders from people to supply them with televisions sets.
Mr Amankwa said the company turned down such orders because they did not have manpower to produce them, saying that “it takes a longer time to produce a television set manually.”
He said it was only on few occasions that Apostle Safo had requested them to produce one or two television set for their customers.
Mr Amankwa said the Electronic Department had on few occasions manufactured musical instruments for some churches which insisted they wanted to use the product of Apostle Safo’s products.
He said the focus of the company was research to improve on its products, contending that the perception that Apostle Safo’s television sets were assembled foreign ones stressing that “the television sets are manufactured by the company except the tube( screen).”
