A Group calling itself concerned youth of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Upper West Region have called for the removal of the Deputy Regional Minister, Mr. Cezar Kale for undermining his boss, Mr Mahmud Khalid resulting in his removal.
The group accused Mr. Kale of abuse of the trust and confidence reposed in him by his boss when he was charged with the duty of organising delegates’ conferences to elect officers to run the affairs of the party in the region by ensuring that only people who would support his plan to become the Regional Minister was elected.
At a Press conference here on Thursday, the spokesperson of the group and former Nadowli West Constituency Deputy Secretary, Mr. Saandong Mwiniban-era alias 'Taller' said any attempt to elevate Mr. Kale to the position of Regional Minister or maintain him as Deputy Regional Minister would be vehemently resisted by the group.
The group recalled a statement made by President Mills during the swearing in of deputy ministers “any deputy minister that undermines his or her boss will be sacked alongside his boss.”
It therefore called on President Mills to remove the Deputy Upper West Regional Minister from office in line with his policy statement.
The group called on the Upper West parliamentary caucus and well meaning Ghanaians to the removal of Mr. Kale from office saying, “His continuous stay will worsen the already volatile or fragile peace in the Upper West Region.”
According to the group, that was the only way of ensuring peace and development in the region and the continuous growth of the party.
When contacted on phone, the Deputy Upper West Regional Minister, Mr. Cezar Kale dismissed the allegations saying, they are frivolous, malicious and calculated to tarnish his good image and reputation.
Mr. Kale said he served his boss, Mr. Mahmud Khalid with zeal, dedication and to the best of his ability and had on no occasion acted in any manner that was tantamount to undermining.
On the issue of the conduct of delegates’ congresses to elect officers to run the affairs of the party, Mr. Kale said that all the constituencies as well as the Regional delegates’ congresses were organised in an open and transparent manner and the Electoral Commission conducted the elections.
He said that since the conduct of the delegates’ congresses, no formal complaint or petition has been received about any misgivings and described the group’s allegations on the conduct of the congresses as mischievous.
Mr. Kale pledged his commitment to serve with royalty and dedication towards the growth the party and the development of the region in particular and the country at large.
