THREE lecturers of the Institute of Professional Studies IPS) Legon have been inducted as fellows of the Institute of Professional Financial Managers (IPFM) of the United Kingdom.
The lecturers, namely Felix Kwame Aveh, Abednego Feehi Okoe and Albert Puni have therefore, joined scores of IPFM fellows in Ghana and the world at large.
IPFM is a leading International institute established in 1992 to provide a body for financial managers across the continent by promoting and advancing professional financial management among practitioners.
Mr Okoe, one of the newly inducted fellows who disclosed this to Times Business in Accra on Friday, said plans were far advanced to setting up a local chapter of IPFM in Ghana next year to provide the opportunity for finance managers in the country to become fellows.
“It would also provide opportunities for students to take part in the institute’s examinations and also broaden their scope of knowledge in their chosen careers,” he said.
He said receiving the fellowship would serve as inspiration to practitioners and students to join the IPFM family.
The IPFM Mr. Okoe said, set out to fill the niche market between the accountancy and treasury management professions.
Mr. Okoe said there has been a steady growth in the membership with thousands of new applications received each year.
There has also been a steady demand from members to be representatives in their own countries. We have over 20 such representations around the world.
The IPFM provides educational services to Cameroun, The Gambia, Kenya, Swaziland, Yemen and Zimbabwe.
These usually take the form of our approving the educational structures of local bodies and issuing certificates and diplomas.
Membership ranges from the technician level through to the Doctoral Fellow level.
