The 14-day International Coaching Course organized by the Ghana Tennis Association (GTA) and held at the Media Centre and Tennis Court of the Accra Sports Stadium has come to a successful end.
The series of courses was organized by the GTA in the day period was in collaboration with Tennis without Boarders Foundation and the International Tennis Federation (ITF).
The program was aimed at upgrading the skills of the local coaches to enble them meet with modern and international standards and also know the dynamics of the game.
In all, a total of 50 tennis trainers and P.E teachers from various tennis clubs, junior and senior high schools all over the country participated in the course.
However, only twenty-five (25) candidates met the requirement to undergo the final part of the course (ITF level 1) after having gone through various assessments at the early stages.
After further assessments, 20 candidates finally passed the ITF level 1 with Benard Ashitey from Stadium Club topping the class.
All fifty (50) participants were presented with an ITF play & stay certificate of attendance and a GTA certificate of participation. The 20 successful candidates were in addition presented with an ITF level 1 certificates which qualifies them to apply for an ITF level two coaching course.
The technical committee chairman of GTA, Mr. David Churcher, advised all participants to apply their knowledge acquired in the various schools and clubs and also help bring up kids with talents and interest for tennis.
