The wife of the Vice President, Mrs. Lordina Dramani Mahama, yesterday presented items estimated at GH¢35,000 to the La General Hospital.
The items included 15 clutches, 10 wheel chairs, six beds and mattresses, 10 blankets and 1 walking rack.
She said the donation was on behalf of her non-governmental organisation (NGO), Alternative Source of Income Programme (ASOIP), with support by an Israeli group, ‘Israel to the Nations’.
Mrs. Mahama the donation was in line with ASOIP’s objective to provide medical support and nutritional aid to the less privileged.
“Unfortunately, at some point in our lives, every one of us will require medical attention. Our hospitals and other health centres must therefore be well-resourced to provide us with the care we need,” she said.
Mrs. Mahama hinted that similar donations would be made to the Maamobi Polyclinic and some health centres in the Northern Region.
Receiving the items, the Acting Medical Superintendent of the La General Hospital, Dr. Dorcas Anfu, commended the second lady for the gesture and urged other NGOs and philanthropists to support the government’s efforts to improve health care delivery.
