“Rising Visions” one of the newest sensations on the Ghanaian music scene has a mission: “To create a new and different musical expression from the combined music talents and life experiences of it’s members from America and various parts of West Africa that is second to none in Ghana”.
Founded in 2003 by an African-American ace-drummer Joseph Collins, other members of the quartet are Franklin Arthur on piano/keyboards, Davis Anim, bass guitar, and Constant Boty on lead guitar.
Collins, from Bowie, Maryland, United States of America first worked as a computer specialist but had always dreamt of making music a way of life.
That journey began in 1999 when he journeyed to the motherland, Ghana, and began playing gigs at Ops and the Bass line.
In 2003 he became a part owner of the Kalahari Jazz Bar for about nine months during which Rising Visions was created as a house band of the Kalahari.
Back to the states to review thing for sometime, Collins played for a number of Gospel groups and performed as a Jazz artist in Tokyo, Japan, before returning to Ghana in May this year for a new revival; this time with better equipment to support the talents of Ghanaian musician, and be part of a musical project for those who would like something new and different.
Franklin Arthur, the piano and keyboards whizkid of the band is a native of the Western Region and has performed with a number professional artist and bands throughout the city, as well as with bands in Nigeria during his travels.
For his skills and professional approach to music, Frank, as he is popularly called is much respected by his musical peers.
Together with his side kick Davis Anim, the bassisit for the group, the two have played together for over 15 years, including an earlier stint in the formative days of “Rising Visions”.
So now, with the latest instruments and modern gadgets they decided to try this new experiment and have brought along this kind of infectious rhythm you won’t find anywhere else.
