Madam Juliana Akrong, Chief Inspector of Schools at Teshie- Nungua in Accra, at the weekend observed that quality education required stakeholders providing the right inputs that would attract excellent results.

“Quality inputs could be traced to skilled teachers, effective teaching and learning, effective use of instructional time, good text books, effective monitoring and supervision, and responsible parenting,” she stressed.

Madam Akrong made the observation at the fifth Speech and Prize Giving Day of the Ebenezer Baptist School Complex at Teshie Nungua, where she was the guest speaker.

She said quality and relevant education guaranteed nationalism, commitment to duty, honesty and selflessness.

Madam Akrong said citizens who exhibited such qualities would be the last to embezzle state funds, or cheat the nation.

“It is the investment in quality education that guarantees the eradication of poverty and improved health.”

She urged parents to do the little they can to invest in their children’s education.
Madam Akrong commended the school authorities for providing quality education at an affordable cost and training for the pupils to value honesty, respect for others and fairplay.

Mrs Carol-Jane Paresen, headmistress, said the school, which was established in 2004 with five children and four teaching staff, could now boast of 265 pupils and 22 teachers.

She said some of the challenges facing the school are delay in the payment of school fees, low enrolment and lack of a school bus and text books.

The Head Pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church, Reverend Dr. Alfred Ofosu-Asante, advised parents to train their children in the fear of God, teach them to be honest, truthful, time conscious, hardworking, patriotic and studious.

The Member of Parliament for Ledzokuku and Deputy Minister of Sports, Nii Nortey Dua, called on parents to cut down their unnecessary expenditure to be able to pay their wards’ school fees.

Certificates were awarded to members of the school management board, members of staff and academically outstanding pupils.

Sidelights of the day were cultural display, poetry and memory verse recitals by the pupils and the inauguration of the Girls Guide and Boys Scout of the school.
