President John Evans Atta Mills will tomorrow open a national youth conference of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) aimed at creating a meaningful platform for the youth to explore their potentials and contribute to national growth.
The conference, which is slated for Ho, the Volta regional capital, is bringing together, about 200 youth leaders across the country to brainstorm with experts in youth development to create an action plan to enable the young people in the NDC to asset themselves.
In addition, the conference, being organised by the youth wing of the NDC, is part of measures groom the youth for their effective participation in politics and governance.
Those attending the three day conference include the all former youth leaders of the NDC, the ten regional youth organisers and their deputies, executives of the TEIN in the various educational institutions, young Ministers of State and young NDC Parliamentarians, as well as stakeholders in youth development.
According to Ludwig Hlodze, National Youth Organiser of the NDC, the conference also aims at guiding the youth in the NDC in particular, and across the country in general towards taking advantage of the various job opportunities generated by the government.
Being held under the theme, “The NDC-our responsibility as youth,” he said the conference would be used to fashion out an action plan for the youth in the party, in pursuance of the autonomous status granted the youth wing.
“We want to encourage the youth to take advantage of job opportunities such as the youth in agriculture programme.
In addition, he said the youth would be educated on issues relating to grass root politics, governance, communication, self development and investment.
