President Donates Vehicle To Kukurantumi Police
The Eastern Regional Minister Dr.Kwasi Akyem Apea-Kubi has presented a brand new 4x4 Nissan Pickup donated by the President Prof.J.E.A.Mills to the Kukurantumi Police.
At a mini durbar of chiefs and people here, Dr Apea-Kubi said that the NDC government under the leadership of Prof. Mills would never down play the security of the people and the entire nation and would do everything possible to equip the security agencies especially the police to ensure that there was absolute peace in Ghana.
He appealed to the people “to cooperate with the police to ensure that the armed robbery cases in the country were totally eradicated to enable you to have the freedom in doing their businesses”.
In this direction, the Minister urged them to continue their on flinching support for the NDC and always pray for the wisdom of God and long life for the President to enable him to fulfil the purpose for which he was elected to lead the nation at this time.
Furthermore, he tasked the various driver unions and vehicle owners to educate their members on the need to allow the police into their vehicles, as part of efforts to check the spate of robberies instead of most of them thinking only of their profits.
‘Allowing one or two seats to be used by the police officers in your vehicles to save the lives of the passengers would not cost or make you lose anything so let us think of our safety first before the profit’, he pleaded .
Daasebre Boama Darko II ,chief of Kukurantumi said the donation of the vehicle was through the instrumentality of Mr. Kofi Wayo, a board member of the Ghana Energy Commission who visited him few weeks ago.
He said they discussed a lot of things concerning the development of the rural communities and the security of the area came in so Mr. Wayo promised to assist by contacting the President for a solution.
He thanked the President for the gesture and reiterated the need for the people in the area to assist the police to work effectively.
On his part, Mr. Kofi Wayo also thanked Prof.Mills for being a listening President.

‘Whoever uses the vehicle other than doing the work of the police should consider him/herself sacked because he has an account to give about the vehicle’.
