Luck eluded a porter, Daniel Adjei when he was caught red handed on close- circuit television camera (CCTV) stealing a plasma television from the Cardio-thoracic Centre at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.

The Accra Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Patrick Eden Timbilla who confirmed this to the Times in Accra last Friday said the 36-year old porter and resident of Bukom on June 4, went to the conference room of the Cardiothoracic Centre and stole a- 32- inch flat screen Samsung LED television.

“Unknown to him, a CCTV at the hall captured him on camera while stealing the television,” he stressed.

He said when the staff at the Cardioatric Centre could not find the television, they searched the CCTV camera and saw the suspect in the act.

The pictures of Adjei were subsequently printed and distributed to various police stations and that aided his arrest,” DCOP Timbilla said.

Following that Adjei was arrested at Bukom at dawn on June 5, and the television has since been retrieved from him.
In another development, the police has also arrested a 28-year old fisherman for allegedly snatching mobile phones from many victims at Lanteman in Accra.

According to DCOP Timbilla, the suspect, Nii Teiko Tagoe, an ex-convict and a resident of Lanteman at Chokor in Accra had been snatching mobile phones from people.

He said Tagoe was released from jail two years ago for stealing and currently has many cases against him pending in court.
He said in afternoon of June 5, Tagoe was arrested by the police for allegedly snatching mobile phones from some people at Lanteman.

The commander said a search on him revealed five assorted mobile phones, and during interrogation he admitted stealing the phones.
