The Eastern Regional Minister, Mr Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, has advised his political colleagues both in Government and in opposition to be transparent in their dealings with the people of this country.

He said that politicians have an expiry date which they should be aware of, and urged them to live up to their responsibilities “since no political party, a Minister or a Member of Parliament is destined to be in power forever.”

“As politicians, we have an expiry date and should therefore try to leave a legacy.

“We should use whatever positions we are occupying now to create a congenial atmosphere for national development rather than using our political inclination to disturb the relative peace of the nation; this may be disastrous,” he stated.

Mr Ofosu Ampofo who was addressing various religious group and other institutions during the Easter festivities, also called on the churches to pray fervently for President John Evans Atta Mills and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration to ensure good governance, peace and prosperity.

“I have repeatedly appealed to my fellow Ghanaians to let us bury our political differences and forge ahead in unity,” he said.

The Regional Minister, however, expressed his displeasure at the rate of indiscipline exhibited by some youth of the political parties and called for the cessation of such negative acts, as these would not help the nation.
