The Produce Buying Company (PBC) has donated relief items valued at GH˘25,000 to the Buipe flood victims in the Northern Region.
They included 100 bags of rice, 100 bags of maize, 50 bags of sugar, 60 cartoons of cooking oil, bails of mosquito nets and used clothes.
Mr. George Kwodwo Boateng, Deputy Managing Director in charge of operations, said the donation was part of the company’s effort to help bring back smiles to the victims.
He said the company which was to start operations in the first week of December in the areas affected finds it befitting to alleviate the suffering of the people.
Mr. Boateng stressed that the company’s intention was to help reduce the poverty in the area by creating jobs for the youth and that the donation was a prelude to the many good things to come.
Mr. San Nasamu Asabigi, Deputy Northern Regional Minister, who received the items on behalf of the beneficiaries, commended the company for the kind gesture.
He said the damage caused by the floods was beyond the capacities of the affected district’s and called on benevolent individuals and groups to emulate the example of the PBC by also coming to the aid of the victims.
