Anti-corruption campaigner and outspoken New Patriotic Party (NPP) MP for Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa, Mr. Paul Collins Appiah-Ofori, has been dropped from the camp of NPP presidential hopeful, Nana Akufo-Addo, for passing unsavory comments about another aspirant, Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanteng, at Swedru.

On a campaign platform in Swedru after the launch of Nana Addo’s Campaign barely a week ago, Mr. Appiah-Ofori launched a rather vile attack on the candidature of Alan Kyerematen describing him as "not refined enough to be marketed by the NPP to Ghanaians".

But his remarks incurred the displeasure of Nana Addo, who was said to be clearly taken aback and quickly condemned it openly.

Mr. Appiah-Ofori was one of the few MPs drawn from the Central Region who openly declared his support for Nana Akufo-Addo and has been on various campaign platforms, soliciting for votes for the Presidential aspirant.

In an interview on Adom FM, on Tuesday, the MP for Assin North, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong stated that due to the behaviour of his colleague MP, he has been struck off from Nana Addo’s campaign team, adding that the NPP Presidential aspirant was not pleased with the remarks made about his closest rival, Alan Kyeremanteng.

According to Mr. Agyapong, Nana Addo screamed, “who allowed him to talk, what is this, we don’t like that at all, so pleased take over,” Kennedy Agyapong said.

“Since then, he has been removed from the campaign team,” he disclosed.

Mr. Agyapong further revealed that he confronted Mr. Appiah-Ofori after the statement and condemned it in his face.

He, however, counseled that some of the allegations should be treated with the contempt they deserve because they are not endorsed by the very persons in whose support they are alleged to be made, adding that since the commencement of Nana Addo’s campaign, none of the people on the trail have passed any unpalatable comments against Alan’s Camp, since they do not want to indulge in dirty politics.

“Osafo Maafo, former Finance Minister and MP for Oda, Kwamena Bartels, former Interior Minister have never talked against Alan on any platform, it was only on that day, that the man (Appiah-Ofori) made that comment and was roundly condemned,” he said.
