The National Blood Transfusion Service of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital yesterday undertook a blood screening exercise in some hospitals in Accra.

At the Maamobi Polyclinic, a massive turnout of military personnel from the Ghana Armed Forces was an indication of a successful exercise.

From now on residents of Nima and Maamobi can donate blood at the clinic. This means that the Maamobi Polyclinic now has a blood bank.

The establishment of a Blood Bank at the clinic will help relieve the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital of intense pressure from the public.

Aljaj Gambo Idris Wangabi, a senior blood recruiter at the Teaching Hospital said the purpose of establishing a blood bank at the clinic was to make it easier for residents to donate at their door steps without having to travel to distant places.

He called on residents to inculcate the habit of donating blood to save lives.

Lieutenant Ansah who led the team of the military personnel said the military civilian-relationship will continue to grow from strength to strength
