IBRAHIM Moro has been adjudged the Most Valuable Player of the 2011-2012 FA Cup at the competition’s awards night held at the Banquet Hall of the State House in Accra last Friday.
The New Edubiase player who led his team to win the title received the enviable award for his exploits throughout the tournament especially, scoring the winner for his team against Ashantigold in August, which helped them to clinch the title.
He also went away with the best goal of the tournament award making him the hero of the night by walking home with two different awards.
Three other individuals from the New Edubiase team also clinched awards which made the club win the highest awards on the night. Head coach Anthony Commey picked the Best Coach prize.
Iddrisa Salia and Abeiku Ainooson claimed the Best Goalkeeper and Defender awards respectively.
For scoring six goals in the tournament, Daniel Awuni of Danbort FC grabbed the Top Scorer award. Other awards went to Jordan Mintah - Wassaman Utd (Discovery of the tournament), Highest scoring club (New Edubiase and Tema Youth - 12 goals each), Referee of the tournament (Samuel Suker) and Assistant Referee of the tournament (A.S Malik).
Other special awards went to Prosper Harrison Addo - Scancom Limited, Sports Team - Joy Fm Sports Team Sports, Metro TV Sports Team and Happy Fm Sports Team.
The rest are Thomas Kumordzi - National Sports Authority, Augustine Asante, Brong Ahafo RFA, and K. Ampem Darko - Ghana Football Association, Samuel Otoo, Ashanti RFA, and Isaac Owusu Ansah - Ash FM, Enoch K. Worlanyo - Asempa FM, and Prince Koranteng - GFA Cameraman Kumasi.
President of the Ghana Football Association, Mr. Kwesi Nyantatyi congratulated the award winners and urged those who could not win any award to work harder for the next season.
The special guest of honor, Prof. John Nabila also congratulated New Edubiase for winning the trophy and wished them well in the CAF Confederation Cup.
The colourful occasion attracted various stake holders in the football fraternity including former Chairmen of the GFA, Coaches and players as well as many football lovers across the country.
