Participants of the upcoming Accra MILO Marathon race have been advised to bring along two passport-size photographs for registration.
The registration which costs GH¢5.00 is currently ongoing and ends on September 20, 2011 – barely 24 hours before the start of the potentially enthralling race.
However, the participants in both the U-15 and the mass sports categories would be medically examined to ensure their fitness.
According to the organizers, parents, who are non-participants, may also join their kids for the U-15 race - not for competition, but to have fun and reunite with one another.
However, participants are encouraged to register in groups other than individual basis in order to enhance a team base work.
The race which starts exactly 6:00am for the U-15 participants, and 6:30am local time for the mass sport runners, will attract some mouth-watering prizes.
For the mass sports, winners in both male and female events will rake home GH¢10,000. However, winners of the U-15 event in the same sexes are expected to smile away with GH¢1,200 each.
A sparkling prize money of GH¢7,000 will also go the way of the 1st runner-up for both male and female mass sports runners, while GH¢800 each goes in favour of both male and female U-15 race 1st runners- up.
The male and female 2nd runners-up for the mass sports pocket home GH¢5,000 each with that of the U-15 grabbing home GH¢500 each.
However, the 4th and 10th positions for male and female mass sports runners get GH¢750 each, while GH¢150 goes for the U-15 participants.
The 11th-20th positions male and female mass sport runners take home GH¢500, but GH¢75 go to the U-15 participants, that is, both male and female.
Again, the 21st -50th positions male and female mass sports runners will get GH¢ 150 each, while the U-15 participants get GH¢50.
The 51st and 100th position male and female mass sports runners slip home GH¢ 75.00 with the U-15 participants slipping home GH¢25 for their effort.
The oldest mass sports runner for both male and female events takes home GH¢700.00 each.
However, the 1st to 2000th mass sports runners including the U-15 runners each gets MILO products and souvenirs for participating in this year’s MILO marathon race.
Meanwhile, the MILO Marathon registration points are Pee Tay – Accra High Street, Dansoman Keep Fit Club premises, Accra Mall – Tetteh Quarshie Interchange, and University of Ghana Campus – Central Cafeteria.
The rest are Accra Polytechnic Campus – Accra Central, Tema Community Centre – Community 1, Tema Sports Stadium – Community 1, Mr. Adjin Tetteh’s residence –Opposite Goil filling station, Dansoman, The Point Restaurant – Nungua, Tema Beach Road, Ebony Restaurant –Kwame Nkrumah Circle, Civil Servants Office – Accra Ministries.
Others include, Winneba Sports College, Nestlé Head Office – Dzorwulu Motorway Extension, Nestle Sales Office –CDC Tema, Near Nestle Factory, Nestle Regional Office –Takoradi, Axim Road near Tigo House, Nestlé Regional Office –Tamale, opposite main taxi rank, and Nestlé Regional Office –Koforidua, opposite Antartic Plaza.
