THE Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) will do a load shedding in parts of the Accra metropolis on Sunday, July 18, from 6am to 6pm to enable its contractors to complete on-going works to terminate the new 330kV Aboadze Tema transmission line into the main switchyard in Tema.
This was contained in a statement signed by Albert Kwesi Quainoo, Head of Public Relations of GRIDCo.
The statement said GRIDCo has consequently requested the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to take out 80 MW of power supply to consumers in parts of the metropolis.
It said the list of affected communities will be advertised in the media very soon.
“The planned outage for Sunday is necessary to provide a safe work environment for a contractor to string the new Abadze-Volta 330kV line across two of the Tema-Achimota 161 kV lines into the main substation in Tema”, it said.
The statement said GRIDCo finds it very important to carry out these works to improve service delivery to its customers.
“GRIDCo appreciates the support and co-operation of all consumers and sincerely apologizes for the inconveniences these work will cause them”, it said.
