The Eastern Regional Organizer for the National Democratic Congress, Mr.Bismark Tawiah Boateng has said that truth is one and it would be better for the members NDC to tell the truth to remain in government than to tell lies to bring chaos and bloodshed in Ghana.
‘Let us resolve to tell the truth about what we have seen, tasted, touched, done and about to do for the people to enable them change their minds for us ,believe in us, vote for us in 2012 and above all, for the peace of the nation to be intact’, he said.
He said the infighting, backbiting, insults and the “we have not received any thing” syndrome always sent wrong impressions about the party in government to the outside world and also gave the opposition parties messages to use against the flag bearer during the 2012 election campaign.
The Regional Organizer said this during the launch of the campaign of the New Juaben South NDC parliamentary primaries candidate, Dr.Kwaku Owusu- Acheampong at Koforidua.
He said that no human being can use his or her own power or strength to rule any nation unless God endowed him or her because “He alone wields power and authority and all those who forced and struggled to gain never ended well at all”.
Mr. Tawiah Boateng reminded NDC members to remember where God took them from before they came to power and urged them to humble themselves to enable God to exalt them in the 2012 elections “because it is not going to be easy as the position parties are bent on unseating President Mills from the Castle”.
According to him, President Mills’ victory for the 2012 was already intact and that the people who would assist him (Parliamentarians) to rule the country peacefully was the problem, explaining that if they failed to get majority in Parliament it would be very difficult for the President to get support for his plans and programmes.
He therefore advised the members in the region to ensure that at least they win about 60 percent of the parliamentary seats in the Eastern Region in the 2012 elections.
In his response, the Aspiring Candidate, Dr. Kwaku Owusu-Acheampong said he would reclaim the New Juaben South seat through renewed credibility if he would be given the nod at the primaries.
He appealed to the delegates to seek for the people who could poll more votes and win their constituency seats for the NDC but not those who would add to the numbers.
Dr. Acheampong who is a lecturer at the Koforidua Polytechnic and a Deacon at the Assemblies of God’s Church said it would take only unity and love to beat the NPP in 2012 elections in the constituency.
He therefore appealed to members of the party to forgive anybody of any wrong doing, “whether consciously or unconsciously because if care is not taken the opposition would capitalize on it to cause a great havoc to the party in the 2012 elections”.
“Let us all love our neighbours, pray for the nation, visit the people, share with them what we have to let them believe in us and the Lord would fight for our victory”, he said.
