The Spokesperson to former President Jerry John Rawlings has dismissed claims by Major Boakye Gyan, that ex President Rawlings’ incessant criticisms on the Atta Mills led government are irrelevant and insensitive.
Speaking on Citi FM on Tuesday, who is also the Deputy General Secretary of the NDC, Kofi Adams, said former President Rawlings’ criticisms are rather meant to put the government in focus to deliver on its campaign promises to the people of Ghana.“Rawlings’ criticism of government is to put the government on focus to deliver on its promises. He does not criticize the party, he criticizes the government”
The former ally to ex President Rawlings in the AFRC regime, Major Boakye Gyan, in an earlier interview with Citi FM took a swipe at the former President for his incessant criticism of President Mills, describing them as irrelevant and insensitive.
According to Major Boakye Gyan, ex President Rawlings was behaving like a guerrilla. He said his actions expose his loss of control and influence in the NDC. Boakye Gyan suggested that ex President Rawlings’ was being intolerant and hypocritical since a criticism of the same nature in his PNDC regime would have attracted a death penalty.
But Kofi Adams rubbished the assertions of Major Boakye Gyan describing them as unwarranted and uncalled for. According to Kofi Adams, Major Boakye Gyan’s comments should not be taken serious because he (Boakye Gyan) even failed to access his own chances of becoming an MP. Kofi Adams asserted that former president Rawlings’ criticisms are to aid President Mills deliver on his better Ghana agenda which “the likes of Boakye Gyan and the NPP destroyed.”
Asked for his response, Major Boakye Gyan failed to react to Kofi Adams’ comments saying Kofi Adams did not deserve his attention since he was not his co equal.
