India High Commissioner Holds Republic Day Reception
Mrs Ruchi Ghanashyam, Indian High Commissioner in Ghana on Tuesday held a reception to mark India’s 61st Republic Day Anniversary at the High Commissioners residence in Accra.
The reception was attended by former President J. A. Kufuor, members of the Diplomatic Corps, Ministers of State, Parliamentarians and a cross section of the general public.
Mrs. Mould-Iddrisu who was the guest of honour, noted that the relationship between Ghana and India was rooted in the shared commitment by the two countries to uphold the principles of rule of Law and good governance while bilateral relations had thrived in education, agriculture, health, commerce and infrastructural development.
She expressed the government’s gratitude to the Indian government for the technical and professional training it continued to offer Ghanaians under the Indian Technical and Economic Co-operation Programme (ITEC).
In her welcome address, Mrs Ghanasham, said India had witnessed a transformational change while maintaining its steadfast commitment to the tenets of democracy.
India’s secular democracy she said had given the people the inherent strength to face the challenges that had confronted the country since independence and the recent threat of terrorism.
