THE Shalom Indigenous Foundation (SIF), a charitable organisation of the Madina New Road Bible Baptist Church, has presented to 50 children learning materials valued at GH¢ 500 at a ceremony in Accra.
The items included 300 pieces of exercise books, 200 rulers, a box of pencils, 200 pieces each of craft books, books on games, and Christian literature books.
The presentation was part of the Children’s Day celebration of the church.
Presenting the items, the Executive Secretary of SIF, Emmanuel Gyimah Adomako, said the foundation’s research in the needs of the children in the area, revealed lack of learning materials, hence the presentation.
He said the gesture which was an annual event never benefitted members of its immediate environment hence the decision to extend this year’s to them.
He said the foundation had on previous occasions presented items to institutions with less privileged people in their efforts to mitigate their suffering and emphasised that it was important that society paid more attention to the plight of the needy.
Mr Kwaku Osei-Tutu, leader of the King of Kings Club, a children’s movement of the church, stressed the need for parents to pay the needed attention to spiritual and other relevant needs of the children.
He said it was important as Christians to provide the necessary guidelines for children to help them to develop their full potentials.
On their part, the children expressed their appreciation for the gesture and promised to make good use of them.
