The Tarikpah and Somoah Primary Schools in the Savelugu-Nanton District in the Northern Region, have received English and Mathematics textbooks, and dictionaries, worth GH¢4,000 from Gaidoo Foundation, a non-governmental organisation.

The Executive Director of the Foundation, Mrs. Abena Awuku, made the donation at Savelugu, last weekend, remarking that despite the high enrolments at the basic level, schools in the rural areas still lacked the resources with which to educate the people.

The Gaidoo Foundation has been established to help address this situation, she disclosed.

Mrs. Aboagye hinted that more schools in the north would benefit from the Foundation, with its plan to equip the basic schools there with required textbooks.

She revealed that the UNICEF office in the Northern Region has already recommended some schools to the Foundation for assistance.

Mrs. Aboagye appealed to the teachers to work hard, noting that the success of the pupils depend largely on the teachers.

An official of the District Directorate of Education, Mr. Alhassan Issahaku, received the books on behalf of the beneficiaries schools and thanked the Foundation for its kind gesture, and pledged the books would be used for their purposes.
