A six- member delegation from the University of Electronic Science and Technology in China, led by its president, Mr. Wang Jinsong, arrived in Accra on Sunday, to discuss issues relating to institutional collaboration with four institutions in the country.
The institutions are the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi, the University for Development Studies, Tamale, the Kumasi and Koforidua Polytechnics.
Mr. Wang explained that, Ghana and China have had a strong relationship and “this has granted us the privilege to visit the country to collaborate with tertiary institutions in specialized areas of science and technology”.
He commended Ghanaian students for their hard work and contributions to the development of Chinese universities over the past years, urged them to implement the skills, knowledge and experience they have acquired in other countries to develop their communities and the country.
The Dean of the School of International Education of the Chinese university, Julia Di, noted that Ghanaians placed value on higher education and said “this is an important investment for every country, which desires is to maintain an effective growth as the world advance”.
“By integrating technology into everyday life, you are armed with the knowledge to use the latest technology advances in your field,” she added.
Mr. Incoom Enchill, the Executive Director of Fransgeor Consults, an Accra-based international educational recruitment consultancy and coordinator of the programme, was optimistic that the collaboration would be beneficial to the four institutions.
Last year, the Chinese University awarded scholarships to six students in the partner universities to pursue courses in the areas of research and computer sciences.
