The Deputy Western Regional Minister, Miss Emelia Arthur, has accepted the decision of the National Executive council (NEC) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) disqualifying her form contesting in the Shama parliamentary primaries.
Addressing a news conference here yesterday, she said, she had no intention to request a review of the National leadership’s decision saying “I am thus no longer a contender for the NDC Shama ticket”.
Miss Arthur said she remained committed to play an active role in Shama and national politics and indicated that, she would soon make her future political career known to the public.
She said, “I will announce my intentions regarding the 2012 parliamentary elections at a similar event in a few weeks later after I have thought things through with my colleagues, family and friends until then I will make no further public comment.
The Deputy Regional Minister told the news conference that, the NDC National leadership decided to disqualify her even though the vetting of candidates did not take place nothing that, the suspended Shama primaries had now been scheduled to Saturday.
‘The incumbent member of parliament, Mr Gabriel Essilfie will stand unopposed and I wish to congratulate him for his defactor nomination as the NDC candidate” she said.
Miss Arthur asked her supporter to accept the decision in faith and remain calm to ensure the success of Saturday primaries and the general elections.
She added,” I am humbled by all the support and encouragement I have received throughout the primaries campaign. I assure the supporters that their support has not been in vain.
