The National Executive of the Umbrella Unit for Action and Loyalty (UUFAL) and a section of the cadres of the 31st December revolution have brushed aside their loyalty to the former President J.J Rawlings and his wife and called strongly on the National Executive of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) party to come clear on the position of the first family to instill discipline and calm in the party to give members a clear sense of direction.

According to the cadres they were dedicated to the party and not to individuals such as the first family who have continuously been criticizing the new NDC administration.

They have, therefore, appealed to the Rawlings’ to reconsider their stand and stay with the party they have worked so hard for since 1992.

At a press briefing here, on Wednesday, the spokesman, Enoch Amoako-Nsiah, observed that since the party assumed power former President Rawlings and wife had been criticizing the administration and they believed that was meant to put the government on its toes to which the government reacted positively.

However, after the Sunyani Congress where the delegates endorsed the President, J.E.A Mills, the criticisms had turned into attacks and exploded on May15th during the 31st December Women’s Movements’ 30th anniversary.

Rumors, he said, suggested that the first family were planning to form a new political party to be launched in the Volta Region very soon, while they intended to use the cadres and foot soldiers whose sweat and toil helped to form and sustain the party.

Stressing that the position of the first family was untenable, the spokesman indicated, “it was the collective efforts of all forward looking Ghanaians who came together to bring the NDC into being and worked assiduously to campaign to bring the party into power in 2009, and we believe that this collective effort of all party faithful regardless of positions, religious and tribal affiliations will guarantee victory for the party in December and subsequent elections”.

The cadres called on party loyalists and sympathizers at all levels in the country to rally behind the party leadership to ensure a massive and resounding victory in the coming elections, adding “we call on all Ministers of state, government functionaries, District Chief Executives to switch on their mobile telephones and come out of their cozy offices and air-conditioned cars to join the cadres and foot soldiers on the field to spread the better Ghana agenda message.

President Mills, the cadres observed had shown beyond all reasonable doubt that he is a man of conviction and fortitude who should be supported to win a second term as President of Ghana.
