Religious leaders have been urged to lead the way to promote peace during and after the 2012 election in the Northern Region.
“We play a very important role in shaping the country and we are therefore need to set the pace for our members to follow in achieving peace and unity .”
Apostle Eric Nyamekyi, the Area Head of the Church Of Pentecost in Tamale, was speaking during the church’s Easter Convention held at the Police Park in Tamale under the theme ‘It is true He Has Risen’.
He said it was necessary for Christ to die to redeem us from our sinful ways and from the hands of the evil one.
He also challenged Christians to use the Easter celebration to spread the message of peace and pray for the country.
Apostle Nyamekyi said most people do not understand the essence of the Easter and therefore use the occasion for their selfish deeds.
“The youth need to be extra vigilant and steadfast not to be influence by politicians for their personal gains”.
Pastor Anaba, the Lamasiegu District Pastor urged the congregation to participate fully in the biometric registration and also to avoid double registration.
The occasion brought together over 170,000 members from 16 districts in the area.
