Chinese Call On Defence Minister

This was when the Chinese Minister, paid a courtesy call on Lt. General Smith in Accra, yesterday.

The Chinese Minister is on a two-day official visit to the country.
He is expected to hold discussions with the Defence Minister on issues concerning the Ghana Armed Force.

Briefing the press, Charles Annan, Assistant Public Relations Officer of MOD, said the discussions centered on military issues.

He said the Chinese government had offered to supply military equipment to Ghana. Earlier in his remark before the meeting, Lt. Gen. Smith commended Gen. Guanglie for the visit and remarked, “You have done us proud by paying us a visit. I’ m looking forward for a discussion that will be of mutual benefit to the two countries,” he said.

Gen. Guanglie, in response, said he was excited about his visit to the country.
