The Chiefs and People of Se (Shai) Traditional area in the Dangme West on Saturday climaxed their annual Ngamayem festival with a grand durbar at Doodwa.
The President, John Evans Attah Mills, in a speech read on his behalf by the minister of chieftancy and culture, Alexander Asum – Mensah urged the chiefs to involve the youth in the developmental agenda of the area to ensure peace and unity.
He said the young people who are a crucial segment of the nations development must be partners of the decision making process so that in future they can impart what they learnt to others.
“Our chiefs must acknowledge that role and empower the youth to realize their inmate potentials” he added.
The Acting President of the Shai Traditional Council Neve Atrokpal in a speech read on his behalf by Nene Nornor Sordzi V appealed to the government to as a matter of urgency rehabilitate the major roads in the district such as the Dodowa to Afienya road, the Ayikuma to Doryumu road as the one leading to the senior high school.
The District Chief Executive Emmanuel tartey called on the Chieftancy secretariat and the Regional House of Chiefs to speed up efforts in ensuring that the numerous Chieftancy issues pending within the area are dealt with amicably.
