CONCERNED farmers of Awaso in the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai District of the Western Region have appealed to the District Chief Executive for Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai, Mr. Moses Kofi Armah and Mr. Christopher Addae, Member of Parliament for the area to aid them get compensation from the Ghana Bauxite Company Limited (GBC).
The farmers claim that the company – a mining company within the area has destroyed property worth billions of cedis through mining activities.
The Chairman of the group, Nana Appiah Kubi in a statement explained that several petitions for compensation have been submitted to the company since 2007 but the management has remained adamant.
He intimated that another petition was forwarded recently through their chief but none of them petitions have yielded any positive results.
Mr Eric Amoako Atta, president of the group expressed his sentiments against the company, indicating that measures were being put in place to demonstrate against the company, if immediate measures were not taken to address their needs.
