The Amansie West District Assembly in Ashanti has procured a brand new grader to help improve the district’s road network.
With the grader, the Assembly hopes to transform most of the feeder roads, currently in a bad state, into all-year-round motorable ones so as to facilitate the evacuation of cocoa and other farm produce to the marketing centres and movement of people.
The District Chief Executive, Charles Oti-Prempeh, who made this known to the Times, identified the rehabilitation of four major roads as the key to the district’s accelerated development.
The roads are Mim-Datano-Tontokrom, Mim-Nkwanta-Keniago-Offinagya, Mim-Nkwanta-Manso-Abore and Antoakrom-Mpatuom-Gyeninso-Akataniase.
Outlining his vision for the district to the Times here on Tuesday, Mr Oti-Prempeh said: “I am committed to ensuring that the district witnesses considerable improvement, particularly in the road, health and education sectors.”
On health, Mr Oti-Prempeh indicated that attention would be focused on supporting the expansion and provision of facilities at the St Martin’s Catholic Hospital at Agroyesum and the Manso-Adubia Government Hospital.
Other health establishments, notably the Manso-Abore and Essuowin health centres, as well as the Antoakrom Maternity Centre, he said, would also be supported to render improved services to the people.
Mr Oti-Prempeh hinted that a number of measures were being jointly packaged by the assembly and the District Directorate of Education to help enhance teaching and learning in both the first and second-cycle schools.
The DCE said serious and sustained efforts were being made to foster unity among the chiefs and people so as to minimise chieftaincy disputes and promote harmony between mining companies operating in the district and their communities to avoid unnecessary conflicts.
He paid a glowing tribute to his predecessors saying, “they did their best and I am committed to building upon their achievements”.
