An accountant with the Tema Oil Refinery, Mr. Joseph Akuure has presented over 356 exercise books, boxes of pencils and other educational materials to the Binaba Primary School in the Bawku West District, to help improve learning there.

Addressing the school children later, Mr. Akuure asked them to develop their skills in the English language warning that “if you do not have the required language skill, you may not succeed, and all your efforts to achieve your set goals would be in vain”.

He entreated them to study hard and be disciplined.

Mr. Akuure noted that it was necessary for both the authorities and stakeholders to help children, especially those in deprived areas, with learning materials to encourage them to stay in school.

He reminded parents of their responsibilities to cater for their children and equally appealed to those in responsible positions to help.

He pointed out that if all stakeholders came on board, the failing standards of education could be addressed, and the number of drop outs in the area minimised.

“People in responsible positions should ensure that children achieve their full educational potential,” Mr. Akuure advised.

The Headmistress of the school, Mrs. Appiah Abaare lauded the benevolence of Mr. Akuure and called on other individuals and corporate bodies to emulate his kind gesture.

The books have already generated enthusiasm among both the staff and pupils.
