Mrs Bernadette Pufaa, a Deputy Director of Nursing Service, has appealed to the government and corporate bodies to construct an emergency ward at the Agona Swedru Government Hospital for effective and safe handling of accident victims.
She said the absence of the facility had forced accident victims to be admitted at the various wards, with its attendant problems.
Mrs Pufaa made the appeal when the Central Region Rural Banks Ladies Association (CERBRALS) presented a polytank worth GH¢600 to the hospital at Agona Swedru.
The donation of the polytank to the hospital formed part of the activities marking the first anniversary celebration of the association.
She noted that apart from the emergency or accident ward, the hospital was in need of a generator, bungalows and a bus to convey nurses staying in the surrounding communities of Agona Swedru.
According to the Deputy Director, the health facility was formerly a clinic so its structures were not up to a hospital status.
She expressed appreciation to the association and promised that the polytank would be erected at the laundry to curtail the shortage of water at the hospital.
Mrs Prudent Aba Marfo, President of the Central Rural Banks Ladies Association, expressed the hope that more of such donations and support would be given to other organisations in the region.
She appealed to the authorities to make use of the poly tank for the benefit of the patients and visitors.
