A concerned citizen, Barima David has expressed his faith in the better Ghana Agenda of President Mills and urged the government to invest more in Agriculture.

Speaking to the Times, he said countries like Brazil, United States of America, China and Japan are doing well because they focused on agricultural development

“Government must have its own farms where Ghanaians would be employed to work by so doing more people would be employed and there would be more food for consumption and export,” he said.

He urged the government to help the existing farmers by providing them with fertilizers and other agro chemicals that could make farming easy contending that there are farmers who were prepared to work but do not have the needed equipment.

He said due to lack of equipment, the rural areas were not developed and there are virtually no industries and formal employment opportunities, thereby making living conditions difficult for them.”

He said as the government could employ some of the farmers who were ready to work did do not have the needed equipment on the state farms, stressing that

“ this will cut down the high rate of unemployment in the country.

According to him, “this is the only way the country would rise from its poverty and slumber, and government urged to re-introduce state farms, Government urged to invest more in agriculture go a long way to improve the economy of Ghana.
