A 20 year old man, Daniel Bandawuni who attempted to snatch the rifle of a policeman has been arrested.

According to the Northern Regional Police Commander, Angwunbutoge Awuni, the suspect last week attacked the policeman who was on duty at Binde in the Bunkpurugu/Yunyoo District.

He said the suspect suddenly pulled at the policeman’s rifle but he was overpowered by some residents who went to the aid of the policeman.

ACP Awuni said the suspect is believed to be an ally of Kombien Boga a convict who escaped from the Tamale prisons recently.

He said the same policeman was attacked by Kombien at the same duty post sometime last year hence the suspicion that the Banawuni might have a clue to the whereabouts of the escapee.
