THE Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of African Art and Culture Development (AACD), Mr Stanleey S. Felten has called on the authorities to help promote the local art industries with their art works.

He said this at the 4th African Gift Fair 09 under the theme: “African Renaissance starts Today”.

He said the AACD aims at ensuring that the local manufacturers derive maximum benefit from their products.

It is also to generate revenue for suppliers and exhibitors who live in the rural areas.

He said, it is also advantageous for tourists to buy directly from the local manufacturers without any interventions.

“AACD African market seeks to develop its business and to extend it to other parts of the country”, he stated.

The CEO urged the participants to help enhance the image of Africa through culture and artwork.

He said he was happy to be part of the activities adding that this year’s fair has brought together lots of renowned artists and craftmen and women whose works are currently on display he added.

Mr Felten disclosed that visitors to the fair will have the unique opportunity of observing artists at work as well as purchasing any product displayed at reduced prices.

The Coordinator of the Fair, Mr. Alexander Bedele expressed his gratitude participants and urged them to continue purchasing local products to help the nation generate revenue for development.

In an interview with Times, an exhibit or Henry Aya Adjetefio expressed his gratitude to the organisers for helping to enhance the local art work in Africa.

I totally agree with you, Mr Bentil. This is a very clear testimony of perfect Ghanaian art and entrepreneurship, so the basket weaving industry in the North must be supported and promoted by the government (well, at least by the Ghana Tourism Board). In my humble opinion, we don’t need to import expensive and environmental-unfriendly ceramic vases, flower pots, etc. as long as we have such locally manufactured beautiful artefacts- we just have to modify them to suit internal decorations too. I will ONLY decorate my house with such beautiful traditional/ cultural works of art. God bless and long live Ghana!
