The Director of the Lutheran Media Ministry, John Donkor, has called on pastors to eschew corrupt practices.
He was addressing a press conference in Accra in connection with Martin Luther Reformation day celebration, brought about reformation of the church in Germany in the 15th century.
Mr Donkor said money had become central in the church and among men of God adding that many find the church leadership too involved with secular matters rather than with the spiritual well-being of the flock.
According to him some pastors and prophets manipulate Christians to take away their money and properties, promising them grace and things from God.
“Some so called prophets have become foreign diplomats with accredited powers to procure visa for people seeking greener pastures, while others have become retailers of holy oil and holy water, all in the quest for money,” he said.
He said Jesus Christ was betrayed by his Apostle Judas on account of money and urged pastors to resist such deviant acts of making money out of church members thereby betraying Christ again.
In order not to betray their master Jesus, he said Christians should be honest and diligent in their walk with Christ.
He advised the reading of the Bible regularly to enable Christians to enhance their lives and understanding of God’s word so that they don’t fall prey to false teachings.
He said salvation, peace, forgiveness, grace and other demands from God were free gifts which were not to be bought and no person should pay any pastor for something from God other than voluntary thanksgiving offering.
Mr. Wilfred Annang, Audience Relations Manager, Lutheran Media Ministry, called on authorities regulating churches to sanction unauthorized churches.
He said most of such churches carry on false and deviant acts which endanger the lives of gullible Christians.

You have said the word. These are False Christan Merceneries who continue to underdevelop Ghana with their false Prophesies The have to be CHASED INTO THE BUSH. If they are really \'\'PREACHERS\'\' they will know that, It is stated in the Bible that: We cannot Expect Manner to Fall from Heaven But To Work For It, In the same Bible, The Parable of The Talent, we are told by God to apply his given Talents for development, that is, for the creation of dynamic industries, manufacturing firms and Food industries, and to open up to employment opportunities, income and better quality of life. In the Book of James we are also thought\'\'It is not enough , my brother to say you have faith when there are no DEEDS...Faith Without Works Is Dead. Unless we are free from these FALSE \'\'PROPHETS\'\' who Cannot even Read and Write, the development of Ghana to prosperity will be very hard for us to achieve for the present and the next generations. Let them know that,in the future, thay will be asked to pay for the price of the Wrong doings, their False Preachings, practices and Cheating even in their DEAD GRAVES.
Director: Are these people really\'\'Prophets and Pastors\'\' In the Bible, we have been warned of False PROPHETS using the name of God to achieve their selfish interests. Ghana is still not developed, the country lacks manufacturing firms to accelerate economic growth, and wonder, why are they not using their so called \'\'supernarural powers \'\' to bring improvements and changes in the country. What A Shame
