Dont Employ People Without National Service Certificate - NSS

The National Service Scheme has warned that companies which employ people without the National Service certificate will face the full rigours of the law.

Both the employee and the employer will be held liable for breaking the law,” Mr. Ebenezer Edzii, Greater Accra Regional Director of the Times, after a meeting with a two- member delegation from Bangladesh Ministry of Youth and Sports.

The team was at NSS secretariat in Accra, to learn about the NSS operations.

Mr. Edzii said” the scheme is was a call for an individual to serve his or her nation, and it is an for graduate of obligation for tertiary institution who are citizens of Ghana to render such a service.”

The National Service is to provide the personnel with exposure, sense of civic duty and voluntarism, besides helping them to acquire experience and national orientation and Mr. Edzii added that it.

“Helps to combat crime, hunger, illiteracy and diseases in the country”.

Mr. Alex Tetteh-Enyo, Minister of Education, told the delegation earlier that the NSS provided teachers, especially to deprived areas of the country.

The Joint Secretary of the Bangladesh Ministry of Youth and Sport, Gazi Mizanur Rahaman, expressed appreciation to the Ministry of Education and the NSS for enlightening them about the functions of the scheme.

It is very good for this law to be rigidly enforced. But my worry is about trained teachers in the teaching field who enter the university to upgrade themselves. Are they also bond to do national service? Please throw more light on this. Thanks.
